After a break of two years, director Renjith is associating with Mohanlal again, for the new movie 'Rock N Roll'. In this gap, Renjith had been pretty busy in directing two films with Mammootty – ‘Prajapathy’ and ‘Kaiyoppu’ and in scripting Mammooty' s Joshy film 'Nasraani' which is going well with the masses, currently. Now for the new movie with his best friend Mohanlal in the lead, Renjith has created a character named Chandramauli, which with different stylish looks and maneuvers will blend easily with the easy acting styles of Mohanlal.

The movie which basically follows the story of Chandramauli, a world famous drummer who was a member of a team of six who came to Chennai to make it big in music scenario. Gradually they became the most talked ones in recording studios and in no time all of them  created  big fans around themselves, but Chandramauli at a point  decided to go abroad. He was not available for a long time as none could trace out where he was. He was last seen doing percussion programming with the South African team when they were performing at the Wembley stadium. Then there was a grape vine that he settled there at London, marrying a black girl. Many heard about him being in jail in Latin America for rearing marijuana. That was Chandramauli who was into everything, an unpredictable easy go guy.

We usually tend to see a Kalabhavan Mani-starrer with preconceived notions. We know what to expect in a film with him in the lead, and usually we are right. Loud mouthed dialogues, fights, sentiments acted out in true Kalabhavan Mani style, a song rendered by Mani himself - these are the ingredients that we have come to expect from a typical Kalabhavan Mani movie. Some of those movies were OK, while others have been insufferable. Most of them however, follow a particular pattern.

If it is with these preconceived notions that you go to watch Mani's latest release, 'Malayali', you won't be wrong altogether. But there are differences in this film. Mani's character is not as loud as it usually is. There are fewer fights this time around. But the other ingredients, including the Kalabhavan Mani song, are there. Mani is a talented actor, who has delivered notable performances in quite a few films. But directors have been casting him in stereotyped roles, which hasn't done him much good.

Before we get into the film, here's a special mention to: Mithunda, this film has him, and the biggest plus point is already packaged. The Multiple-National-Award-Winner never disappoints, and 'Zor Laga Ke Haiya' is no exception.

Now coming to the film. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise... 'Zor Laga Ke Haiya' is beautiful film. Debutant Director Girish Girija Joshi makes a film with a noble intentions, and the message is really effective. "Save Our Tress" says the film, and after watching the honest attempt you actually support the issue.

The film is directed well, the Cinematography is perfect, and the Music is decent.

Talking of performances: It's a Mithunda show all the way. Mahesh Manjrekar is funny; making you laugh at the right places. Gulshan Grover is superb.... and he sure Loves Nature. The kids do a decent job, especially the one who plays Seema Biswas's son. Riya Sen, Seema Biswas, Raj Zutshi are passable in cameos.

Sindhanai Sei by debutant director Yuvan is about five friends, who have failed to succeed in life, joining hands with an ulterior motive. The movie begins as an emotional drama and becomes an action-flick dealing with bank robbery.

Yuvan, who has also donned the protagonist’s role, has come out with a different theme. He has looked into the ill-effects of humiliation caused by inabilities. The psychological insight has been presented in the backdrop of an engrossing tale of a crime.

Adhi (Yuvan) is one of those who haven’t made any impact during school life. After being neglected by his family as a useless fellow, Adhi comes to city to seek his livelihood where he meets a rich and beautiful Gayathri (Madhu Priya) and instantly falls for her. To his surprise, the girl too falls in love with him and they get married in just a month. But they get separated in just a day.

Remakes are no easy task. It has to sustain the interest of the original. And it is doubly so When it happens to be a period film. Director N K Viswanathan has taken this challenge and has come out with 'Jaganmohini', a remake of yesteryear hit directed by Vittalacharya titled the same. Half the battle seems to have been won once the filmmaker had zeroed in on Namitha for the lead role.

Namitha replaces Jeyamalini who played the lead role in the original. She not just oozes glamour but also comes up with a convincing performance. She lends solidity to the role. Also such movies demand good computer graphics, which generally form its backbone. Viswanathan has used the state-of-the-art technologies well though at places it looks tacky and artificial.
